Last Sunday, Mar. 12, the Robin Hood Army-Philippine Team (RHA-PH) - Pasig Area, in partnership with RE/MAX Alliance Philippines, set out to serve some random street children for mixed snacks and meals.
The area of Floodway, Barangay Maybunga In Pasig City was visited for the food distribution. This visit was more of random/ambush, compared to the last activity, which had the children assemble in a particular venue.
The food shared, included a filling snack of pancit/spaghetti, puto, cupcake, gelatin, and juice. All these were courtesy of the kind individuals from RE/MAX, who also took the time to join the group and volunteer as well.
Children Were All Smiles
The children were very happy that the group was able to visit them and share a hearty Sunday afternoon snack, while exchanging stories and getting to know each other. The volunteers from RHA-PH also made sure to give a friendly reminder to parents about the importance of nutrition, especially in children.
Idea For A More Environment-friendly Food Distribution
After the activity, the group discussed about the recently concluded event: their feelings and recommendations on how to make upcoming food distributions more efficient.
An idea came up regarding food packaging and how they can be more environment-friendly, as opposed to using styrofoam containers and plastic utensils. A suggestion was agreed upon that materials utilized could be earth-friendly like banana leaves and plant starch cutlery. The group is yet to explore the available options.
If you have suggestions on the topic or are currently practicing something similar to the idea, you may share your comments below.
